Job Description

Title: Director of Sourcing and Import

Industry: Wholesale, Fashion & Apparel

Location: Montreal, QC

Position Status: Full-time, permanent (Hired by the employer, not by Evlv)

Compensation and Benefits: $140,000 - $160,000 depending on many aspects+ benefits + vacations

About the company that is hiring for this position:

A leading women’s fashion importer is looking for an Import sourcing manager in the woven department. We are looking for someone to manage an import department that is highly involved in the sourcing and purchase of raw materials from China for production in China and other countries. From the time fabric is purchased in China to following up production schedules. The candidate will manage a department of 8 import staff and will report to the VP of the company. The candidate is required to have the experience to understand specific aspects of production and sourcing. As a manager, candidates will not be tied down with doing the manual work themselves.

The right candidate has the following soft skills:

• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
• Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Requirements:

• 10 years of importing from China with knowledge of China exporting procedure
• Knowledge of the entire product cycle of woven garments, from raw material buying to finished goods labelling.
• Knowledge of various industry-accepted testing requirements as well as various retailer requirements.
• Momentis ERP knowledge is an asset
• Wholesaler experience is an asset

The responsibilities will include the following:

• Take responsibility and Evaluate the quality of work of the department staff members.
• Ensure all orders are expedited to vendors in a timely manner
• Represent the production staff in interdepartmental meetings with Sales QC and Logistics
• Follow up with production meetings weekly to address problem cases
• Make decisions on production schedules & discounts with overseas suppliers.
• Negotiate prices and finalize orders with the team
